Forewarned Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Forewarned

So oft as darkness bills and coos
So God will stand us true
Yet selfishness will cause to lose
From righteousness our view

As some have done so oft before
As children of the night
Through sin, to God we close our door
Afraid to face The Light

It’s always been the devil’s plan
To cheat to steal and lie
To clamp sin’s chains again on man
So lost in shame we die

Yet those forewarned with eyes to see
Those wise to Satan’s ruse
May seek a way on bended knee
To set their neighbours loose

Yet we ourselves, should have no stain
Through Christ be free of sin
Lest in fighting, we fight in vain
Allowing darkness win

Many have watched the devil fail
Where others fail to see
Ending themselves within the jail
From which they’ve sought to free

Satan himself is no man’s fool
He’s learnt to understand
By grace we’re each a mighty tool
Within our Saviour’s hand

It’s through The Lamb, the truth He told
The Rock of ages past
We fight the fight remaining bold
Standing the stormy blast
