Forgiven Poem by Robert Earl Wolfe

Forgiven

Some things can be forgiven
Other things can not
I am sorry it is no excuse
For what we too often wrought

I am sorry does not return a life
Which someone took in hast
When we look back in disbelief
It all is such a waste

Words often spoken in anger
Far ahead of thought
A moment in the open
Now see what it has brought

Hate gives so much unkindness
Love offers so much more
I just don't see why in our hearts
More kindness we don't explore

Why is it we can't live in peace
See one anothers plight
How is it so hard to understand
Why do we have to fight?

Why is love so hard to hold
How does it slip away
It would be so much better
If we could keep it one more day
