Forgotten Daddy Poem by Monica Paris

I love and hate you daddy
why can’t you see I am a part of you too?

I so badly wanted to be a daddy’s girl
but you said you had to leave

I love you, you said as you walked away from me
why can’t you see that I need you so?

I remember your smell, hugs and kisses too
I wait for you but you never come
you’re too busy playing daddy to someone else now

I cry for you but you never hear
how could you choose someone else over me?

Anyways, life goes on and I'm older now
I still miss you though, but I know you don’t care

So every time the thought of you creeps into my mind
I close my eyes tight for I refuse to cry
and waste tears for a man
that is no longer my daddy but a stranger in my mind
