Free As The Deep Blue Sky Poem by Eric Paeplow

Free As The Deep Blue Sky

There you stood, staring at the outside world
I walked up silently behind, where I stood

Still

Watching for that moment, when you knew that I was there
Yet the moment never came and there you simply stood

You moved not an inch, nor made a single sound
Standing close behind you
I could but see that you were sad

Feeling your pain, I stepped closer in behind
Then wrapped my arms around you

Tight

I placed a kiss, so gently on your cheek
And whispered words, so softy
To wake you from your sleep

A tear then trickled down your sullen cheek
And but one word, did you at long last speak

Why?

I have no answer, no reason how, or why
All I know, is that you are an angel
Spread your wings and fly…

Feel my heart, as it beats in time with yours
Feel my emotion, as with every tear, it shows
Turn yourself to face me, away from the outside world
Come embrace me tightly and let me lift this curse

For I may not be perfect
Nor do I even try
But my soul is strong and healthy
And as free as the deep blue sky

Let me share my strength, let me show you life
Let me kiss you softly, until your tears run dry
Let me lift your woes and set your soul free

I will do these things freely
Cause you mean the world to me…
