Friend Poem by Kevin Eaglesfield

Friend

Rating: 4.5

She found him in the old town ditch,
Approaching Merrin's farm,
And tenderly she held him
In her rags to keep him warm.
And as he licked her grime-streaked face,
Then shared her dark, hard bread,
She carried him across the snow,
And to her dark, hard bed.

Where would humanity be without the animals who would befiriend even the poorest of us with a devotion which puts half of us to shame. A great write Kev.
