Full Circle (Evolution Song) Poem by Kevin Patrick

Full Circle (Evolution Song)

Amino acids waltzed from times primeval overture
Proteins stirred by cadence, fused melodic harmonies
Organic compounds clasped, a pounding refrain soon ruptured
Single cells entangled in chains of great Diversity

Fruitful microbes multiplied, with voracious appetites
Fresh protozoa's served as life's first hors d'oeuvre
First serving of a nucleus sparked eukaryote neophytes
Then came vegetables and animals with contagious verve

Soon, a bloom of taxon's ballooned from life's majestic springs
Soft Invertebrates became head strung vertebrates
A panoply of players were throwing into the chaos ring
Reptiles fought for primacy until mammals took fates bait

Simple rhymes of life gave way to complex variations
Delicacies of variety came from natural selection
Traits with premium rates conferred survivals long duration
Adaptation is life's insurance and abiding self-protection

For Evolution is a manual of nature's genesis
Our Genetics is the pedestal by which we are all designed
Patterns of existence, are shaped in DNAs raw elegance
Change is sound fidelity to which all worlds are resigned

And the curve conceived gave form to an infant circle
So that it may come full, to the infinite eternal
