Full Of Surprises Poem by O Sudhir Janardhanan

Full Of Surprises

The day I heard the agony in her voice
Of love split, went and fought, gone awry
She cried at the sound of my voice
Always remembering,
Times that we spent,
Happy and full of surprises

She never said, my ears heard
As I searched for the sparkle
That crackled with her words
All that I heard
Were words soaked in tears

My love had been waylaid
The day she had walked away
Telling me, Friend
You too will find
Your soul-mate, right away

I had hidden my tears
Let them not fall in fears
My love she would discover
That, so much I feared

Those days I heard laughter in her speech
Love found in a hurry, kept the phone to my beseech
She smiled at the sound of my voice
Always remembering,
Times that we spent
Happy and full of surprises

Now her voice makes me speak some more
As she feels the love
That I had always stowed
She remembers the look in my eyes
And sees the love that I never showed

The smile is back in her voice
It's tinged with sadness all right
She wants me so much to say
I loved you
And will love you always

There is a fright and a scare in me
Wanting not it to change
Wondering, will it be like times that we spent
Happy and full of surprises...
