Funny how sometimes we see
Little sparks of us
in someone that we least expect
Often times in that one
who intentionally keeps us in check

Pointing out our flaws and weakness
Often rendering us speechless
Because of that which makes me be

Yet similarities in her I see
Some blaringly obvious
Others subtle or concealed

Defensive and sarcastic
yet giving and smart
Humanity and youths
are close to our hearts

The books that she chooses
Are interestingly
Ones I've read or perhaps taught
And seemingly, unknowingly
Echoes our hearts
One Yearning
One fleeing
From what one day may be
A merger of two people
The circle then complete...
