Funny Rebirth. Poem by Sundaram Krishnaswamy

Funny Rebirth.

I watch you from here.
Your beautiful eyes,
And the thin waist.
The spring in your steps.
The jump in your walk.
It is all the same.
What an intelligent woman
You turned out to be!
I overheard you saying to your friends,
That you believe in rebirth.
I come and stand in front of you.
Don't you recognize me?
I was your husband in your previous birth.
Will you marry me?
I speak in my language,
Offering you flowers,
Shaking the trees.
I am better than your hero.
Can he dance upside down?
You bend to pick the flowers,
But pick the stones and throw at me.
I escape the stones
and climb to the tree top.
But I still remember those days.
I will return again tomorrow,
See you from the tree top.
My name is Monkey No.1.
