Futures End Poem by Alejandro Torres

Futures End

I hold in
My sad worry
What would it ever be to you
But a distant memory
Of a conversation
You’ve long forgotten
You did not deter my heart
As much as I would prefer
And now no one understands
The suffering my heart goes through
When I write your words
A fact you no longer would know
When you lay your head down
Is it my heart you hear
Ragged and off beat
Calling to you
When you say I love you
Is it my face you see
The way it was
The last time I saw you
With him
They say
There is no other expression
As clear
As devastation
If you knew all my secrets
Would I die
From naked purity
Or naked desire
For understanding
From the one who fears to know
What a simple life
Could be
From the foolish girl
I fell in love with
Without a word
From you
