Gatwick Airport Poem by Mary Champion

Gatwick Airport

Person scanned and scrutinized;
stripped of dignity,
relieved of all potential weapons;
lethal and otherwise.
Threat to life and limb assessed
and classified acceptable.

Then a trail of travellators
through an interminable terminus
till we board our jet-propelled
sardine-can.

The appeal of armchair travel
has never been stronger.
