Gen A Universal Law Poem by Mill Field

Gen A Universal Law

A universal law is this
Which, followed well, can lead to bliss;
If you want to get something out of your life
Then you'll have to put something in.

Take your garden, take your car,
If you want to get something out of them both
You'll have to put something in.

Take a bank or a Sunday pie,
If you want to get rich or dine on quiche
You'll have to put something in.

Whether family, frolic, study or friends,
Whether work or sport or toil,
Seeking benefit from any of these
You'll have to put something in.

This something is love, attention and care -
Manage all three and you'll float in the air -
For you will have found the best way to win
Is to live life with zest and put something in.
