Gentle Jesus My In Armour Poem by Paida Mudzamba

Gentle Jesus My In Armour

GENTLE JESUS MY KNIGHT IN ARMOUR

Gentle Jesus my Knight,
Save me from the evil plight;
Which hunts me and threatens to devour.
O my Saviour, Knight in shining armour,
Bring to halt all the sorrows of my soul; my Soul which is in flight,
To heavenly glory my delight!
My soul longs to see the light
Of my brilliant Knight.

O Knight in shining armour!
Can't you hear my heart's tremor?
Can't you hear its fast beating?
It's almost bleeding.
I'm all alone in the dark, with creatures of night creeping.
My Knight do you want to see your damsel weeping?
My soul is depressed,
Indeed I'm a damsel in distress.

My Knight of Noble birth,
You know the evil which is upon this earth.
Gallop to my side my gallant Knight!
Take me away from this land of forever Night.
O so faithful in love and so dauntless in war;
It's your Precious Blood which you outpour.
Your love is tender
It's full of all splendour.

Though without beauty which all seek,
With only your gentle eyes to see
And nothing else but your visor;
I will allow you to wear my colour.
I will play for you on my harp while you fight.
O my dashing Hero my delight.
With your sword thrust high with a mighty swing,
Keep me under your protective shield of a wing!

O my Knight to save me come!
O my brave devoted one.
Take me with you on your white steed,
Draw me, let's go with speed.
O where could I be without you my charm?
Now I can rest in my favourite place, your arms.
It's love that my lips will murmur.
O my gallant Knight in shining armour.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is an extract from my poetry called Roses. In this poem Christ is the eternal Redeemer, and here I depict Him as my Knight in shining armour, my Knight of Noble birth who rescues me from every evil plight of body, mind and soul. I express my joy and the notion of St. Augustine when he said '...our hearts are restless until they rest in you O Lord.'
