Midnight falls, the room turns cold,
Shadows stretch like stories told.
Something moves beside the door,
Was it there a moment before?
I hear footsteps down the hall,
But there's nobody there at all.
A little sound becomes a sign,
And fear starts speaking through my mind.
Is it a spirit? Is it real?
Or just the fear I cannot feel?
The darker it gets, the more I see,
The things my mind creates for me.
There's a ghost inside my mind,
Dancing where the shadows hide.
Maybe there's nothing in the room,
Maybe fear created all the gloom.
I run from things I cannot see,
While something darker follows me.
And now I finally realize—
The ghost was living in my mind.
Every whisper sounds like a name,
Every shadow starts a game.
The empty room begins to breathe,
And every corner makes me freeze.
But morning comes, the darkness fades,
The terrifying shapes are changed.
What looked like something standing there
Was only moonlight on a chair.
Maybe the unknown is what we fear,
Maybe the silence makes it near.
We paint a face on empty space,
Then give our fear a hiding place.
There's a ghost inside my mind,
Dancing where the shadows hide.
Maybe there's nothing in the room,
Maybe fear created all the gloom.
I won't let darkness rule my eyes,
I won't believe every disguise.
If fear creates what I can't find,
I'll face the ghost inside my mind.
The room is still…
The shadows fade…
Nothing was there…
Except the fear I made.
The ghost was never in the room…
It was inside my mind.
