Ghost Of Today Poem by Alina Meyer

Ghost Of Today

Set my feet on the cold, hard ground
My heart will flit like a captured bird.

Perhaps I shall pack myself away
To keep the nightmares at bay
And I could finally sleep.

The ideas are too much
Everything under the sun has been told
Only the ghosts live naïve.

They flit in the shadows to hide from the fear.

How I wish I could stay a child
To stay a coward
And not learn the tales of a disturbed world.

For the tyrannical rule
When the children have gone off to war
And the naïve flit among the shadows,
Ghosts of the last century.
