In shadows cast by a fractured past,
Walking on eggshells, a delicate repast.
Learning to silence the whispers of youth,
A mouse in the silence, the bitterest truth.
Stuff down the feelings, hide them away,
Protect the glass heart, come what may.
A special needs child in a world so unkind,
Metaphorical bleeding, wounds left behind.
Screams into the void, unheard and lost,
Life's cruel game, a heavy cost.
Unfit to parent, yet the burden carried,
Alcoholism's slave, every hope buried.
A symphony of fear, echoing loud,
As innocence fades into a heavy shroud.
The ropes of silence, a cruel tutor,
In the school of pain, a relentless suitor.
But within the darkness, resilience grows,
A spirit unbroken, defiance that shows.
Learning to care for the fragile within,
A phoenix rising, a new life to begin.
Through the cracks of the glass heart, light may gleam,
A survivor's tale, a shattered dream.
For every echo of the past, a lesson learned,
In the drama of healing, a new chapter turned.
