God’s Secret Things Poem by Michael P. Johnson

God’s Secret Things

The devil’s here, and he’ll deceive
Each chance to him we give
God’s secret things, we don’t believe
And yet we hope to live

Before I’d sought the higher ground
Before God set me free
Before this child was truly found
My eyes had failed to see

For nought of Christ had been revealed
Still drunk from Satan’s wine
God’s secret things were still concealed
His Spirit wasn’t mine

It wasn’t strength, or human might
Nor was it man’s decree
By grace! God’s servant saw The Light
When once I’d bent the knee

The promise I should never die
The promise of His love
The promise came from God on high
Fulfilled in Jesus’ Dove

The Counsellor, God’s mighty Flame
The Holy Ghost is real
Salvation’s gift, in Jesus’ name
Inside, this child could feel

Through Him, we walk the righteous way
In Him, the truth is clear
Through Him we’ll face The Judgement Day
Without a jot of fear

But till we pray, for God to send
His Gift to you and I
There’s just no way to comprehend
We’ll always wonder why? ? ? …
