God, Take Me Home Poem by Michael Peterson

God, Take Me Home

The days and the years have been cloudy
Many depressing moments along the way
I journeyed the world around
Running from my past
Searching for the perfect life
Wasting to many years. trying
Living in my mind all alone
Separating reality from fantasy
Dreaming of the perfect life
Friends and family all around
ButI was never in touch
Just there in body
As I wonder why I was here and not there
Looking for my way home
Lost along the way
Strangers all around me
Voices are just mumbles
As I reach deep in my mind
To find what I have been missing
It was you and the strangers along the way
I look to the skies for answers
I feeling the tears coming from the skies
Cold and refreshing bringing me back
My mind is clearing and the sun is shining
God take me home
I been away for so long
Lost in the fantasy world
Your tears have awaken me so
The strangers you sent along the way
Have touch me so
I wish I could of seen it earlier
There you were showing me the way
Having me learn along the way
Touching others with my heart
Back to where I want to be
God, take me home
Take me to where it started
To the gates of heaven
Where life was granted
And Death so honored
As drift toward the sun
The years so rough
There you were as I prayed
I cried, suffered, loss
You lead me thru them
As I recovered to live again
As I make my way home
I will see you soon
Along the way, I will touch others
As you touched me
Thanks for showing me home
I was home all along
With you by my side
In my heart and in my mind
Sorry I lost you along the way
Take me home just one more time
I am home, my God
