Gods Poem by Benjamin Turner

Gods

I have walked this world many times
I have seen lands come and go
People breath and die
All in the name of this god or that
I have seen gods rise when they were needed
And die when they were not
For when a gods justice becomes obsolete
So to does the god
For what good is a god whose justice does not extend to them self
live by the sword die by the sword
live free by the rules of one and only one
Or die by the hands of those who do
How can we trust a religion that was wrought with corruption and greed?
Sacrifice all to the one who has everything?
If religion is a thought a belief
Why then does it need money?
For does it not already exist with in us all to believe
And if i so choose to believe differently from you
Is that not my choice
Am I not free to make it?
And yet I will be persecuted
Told I am wrong
Forced to repent for a crime that is not
If i choose not to believe
That is a choice only I can make
For after all
I have walked this world many times
I have seen lands come and go
People breath and die
All in the name of this god or that
I have seen many gods rise and fall
For I am history
And forever eternal
