Going To A Special Place Poem by Neso Onyeuche

Going To A Special Place

sticks and stones may break my bones
but you hurt my very soul
it erodes
then explodes
leaves me hollow, and you whole

so I disassociate
shift my gaze and fly away
now I don't know where I am
all I hear is trickling sand

so I let myself go under
feel the numb that I can't keep
sense of self now turn asunder
healing in a peaceful sleep

I don't have the time to wonder
how blunt words can cut so deep
