Goodbye Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Goodbye

Time, where are you going
I long to hold you near
The summer winds approaches
As winter disappears
A slew of new acquaintances
Reach out and call my name
So many new directions
New perspectives from growth and pain
Reading signs of language
Where no syllables are spoken
Intimately clutching the faces and hands
Which have shaped me up to the moment
In the deepest crevices of my soul
Enthusiastically I vowed to live
Recognizing all of the wonderful blessings
I’ve been so fortunate to receive
Tomorrow isn’t promised
The future tell no lies
And no one ever knows
If this is the last time we will say goodbye
Time, where are you going
I long to hold you near
Each precious tick I squander
Forever disappears
So many scenes and settings
A lifetime of mistakes
Forged by seeds of circumstances
The uncertain profanity called fate
Respectfully I apportion your use
Trying earnestly to appease
For no second lost can be recovered
No remorse can pause mortality
In the deepest recesses of my being
Excitedly I vowed to live
Recognizing all of the wonderful blessings
I’ve been so fortunate to humbly receive
The future isn’t promised
Tomorrow tells no lie
And no one ever knows
If this is the last time we will ever say goodbye
