Gran Poem by Kirstin Barnes

Gran

Rating: 4.0

I found you one sunny morning,
Curled up on the bed.
Your feet and hands were freezing,
But warmth still in your head.

Your pulse was no longer racing,
Your heartbeat had beat away.
You lay so quiet and peacefull,
Upon that sunny day.

For weeks I had been crying,
Knowing that you'd soon be gone.
We watched you lie and search for breath,
But still you were hanging on.

You were the best gran in the world,
One with a heart of gold.
A smile was always on your face,
And a story to be told.

If ever we were lonely,
If ever we had to cry.
We shed a tear upon your heart,
But now we say goodbye.

We say goodbye to all the happy times,
When we laughed and danced along.
And goodbye to the gran we love so much,
But now you're where you belong.

You're up with grandad in the sky,
Dancing to and fro.
Although you're not with us anymore,
Our love will never go.

Gran, it started with a smile,
And ended with a tear.
And even though you're up in heaven,
You'll always be right here.
