Grateful Poem by Alexander Foald

Grateful

Falling stars dive into the deep night
Crumbling faith bound by unknown force
Mystery is the last thing they want to know
While it’s the only thing that keeps them alive

Who will answer me when I call in my suffering?
Who will come to my rescue when I lost my standing?
What makes me different than anyone else before love?
What makes all of us become one inside the diversity?

Lights can shine on me, but I cannot see its source
Darkness is all I recognize, yet I still cannot find my way through
I found myself desperate to know what’s beyond the wall I leaned on
While I still don’t want to lose everything I have gained until now

I’m breathing; the singing birds, spring flowers, growing trees
Swimming fishes, bright sun, lazy clouds and even a whistling baby;
Are they breathing with me, too?

My eyes see everything I want to see
My mind thinks of everyone I want to care about
My heart feels the warmth of kindness within these relationships
And I know I want to keep all of this as long as I’m still alive
