Gratitude For Sir Oscar Schmid Poem by Dr.Suryaraju Mattimalla

Gratitude For Sir Oscar Schmid

Dear Sir Oscar Schmid,

How can we express our gratitude to such a kind and generous heart? A heart that opens its doors when the world shuts them? How can our simple words stand before the beauty of your immense care? Our thanks seem small compared to the gift you gave—your tireless support to refugees and those who are displaced. You helped asylum seekers, the homeless, and the lost who found kindness in your German spaces. Without you, loneliness would have guided us through the quiet hours of the asylum camp.

But luck smiled on us when it led us to you, a light in our darkest moments. Your love asks for nothing in return, yet it gives us dignity, hope, and strength. For families like mine, your kindness speaks a language deeper than words. You came to us like an angel, quietly walking among tents and weary hearts. You saw not strangers, borders, or skin, but human lives that deserve care.

You protect our safety and shield our fears, even though we feel like outsiders in your world—from your whiteness, your homeland, your ground. Still, you chose humanity over distance. In you, we discovered a love we never knew in the places we once called home.

You represent compassion and truth, a living promise that goodness still exists. Please accept this poem as our humble gift, a small reflection of our endless gratitude. We love you deeply, dear sir, beyond words. You are our angel, our protector, our hope.

With endless appreciation,
From a refugee family who will never forget you.
