Growing Attraction Poem by Mary Champion

Growing Attraction

I'd never given you a second thought -
the idea was ridiculous - absurd.
I'd never, ever dreamed you'd be my sort-
dismissed it all without another word.

The idea was ridiculous - absurd -
so why the voice that whispered in my head?
'You're his kind of woman! ' so it said.

I'd never, ever dreamed you'd be my sort
until that night - that frank, admiring glance-
the night you took my hand and said 'Let's dance! '

Dismissed it all without another word -
exactly what I should have, at the start,
but I didn't and the outcome broke my heart.
