Guilty As The Devil’s Spawn Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Guilty As The Devil’s Spawn

Rating: 5.0

We’re guilty as the devil’s spawn
A stench to Heaven high
Unless through Christ a man’s reborn
He’s bound in sin to die

To die, then rise for judgement day
With both the least and great
Where each their debts have need to pay
Cringing before hell’s gate

No pocket has the final dress
For silver gold nor jewels
So truly guilt must we all confess
For breaking Heaven’s rules

“Too late too late” the call will rise
Where life was lived in vain
The Truth revealed to shameful eyes
Will herald tears and pain

Yet Jesus sees the future clear
To Him are lives laid bare
So those who come in reverent fear
Eternal life may share
So those who come have need to fear

The time is now the place is right
Repent from lives of shame
Seek righteousness put sin to flight
In Christ’s most holy name

Seek out The Lamb whilst yet we may
The King who came and died
Receive Him as your Lord today
And turn the devil’s tide

Its not too late where still there’s breath
Regardless of our past
Escape the pit flee certain death
Before the dye is cast
