Haikus for Tony
By Forrest Hainline
Remember Tony
How he touched us with laughter
Love and good judgment
Recall his wry smile
His unflappable spirit
His generous heart
Celebrate his life
Husband, father, partner, friend
Life ended too soon
Death owns its timing
It's always arbitrary
And always cruel
Death hurts where love lives
Anchor with firm memory
What death tries to end
Welcome the sadness
For there would be none without
The balance of joy
