Half A Shadow Poem by Malory Joyce

Half A Shadow

Your face was half a shadow
sitting in the corner
by the tented glass window
where the sun was smiling
down on the left side of your face;
just smiling.

The secrets that draw my curiosity,
somewhere the truth lies,
in your cup of coffee and my tea,
shall we drink together,
and take in the sweet surrender
together.

A shy girl can open her door
just as the confident man
can fall to the floor.
Walk through my door
It's open, walk through,
my door.

because I want to lift you,
bringing the other half of your face
out of that there shadow, hiding you
and then the sun will shine,
smiling upon all of you,
smiling.

Here were sitting in the corner
by the tented glass window
while our beverages become colder;
your coffee and my tea sitting,
side to side on the wooden table,
just sitting.

We came closer over the while,
coffee and tea was no more, then,
for the first time I seen half a smile
but there was no longer sun,
and it was your smile,
not sun.

You stare through the glass window,
and you wont find happiness,
being the still half of a walking shadow,
but this shy girl opens her door,
it's open, walk through,
my door.

because I want to lift you,
bringing the other half of your face
out of that there shadow, hiding you
and then the sun will shine,
smiling upon all of you,
smiling.
