Head Up, Heart Strong Poem by David Self

Head Up, Heart Strong

Life doesn't travel in a straight, smooth line,
Some days you stumble, some days you shine.
There'll be mountains to climb, there'll be valleys below,
And moments you wonder which way you should go.
But pick yourself up, dust off your knees,
Breathe in the courage, stand tall in the breeze.
You're stronger than all of the storms you've been through,
And there's still so much living left waiting for you.
Some chapters are heavy, some endings feel wrong,
But you learn as you walk, and you carry on.
The road may get rough, the night may feel long,
But somewhere inside you, you're still holding strong.
So face every sunrise with fire and grace,
Meet every challenge and look it in the face.
You don't need to know where the whole road will end—
Just take the next step, then take it again.
For life will go up, and life will come down,
You'll lose your way, then turn yourself around.
And every time you rise from the ground,
You'll find a little more strength than you found.
So hold your head high, let your brave heart lead,
Trust in the person you're growing to be.
Whatever life throws, whatever comes through—
Stand up, step forward, and face it head-on.
You've got this. You always had more strength than you knew.
