Heart And Mind At War Poem by Annie Gbadam

Heart And Mind At War

In shadows cast by love's deceit,
The heart and mind engaged in feat,
A battle fierce within, concealed,
As wounds of betrayal are revealed.

The heart, once trusting, now shattered deep,
Its rhythm, erratic, it struggles to keep,
With echoes of love's tender embrace,
Now tainted by a lover's disgrace.

The mind, a fortress, seeks to analyze,
The reasons behind these painful lies,
It questions the motives, the deceitful art,
Trying to mend the shattered parts.

Yet in this war, they both collide,
Emotions and thoughts in chaos reside,
The heart, wounded, cries out in pain,
While the mind seeks solace, but in vain.

Oh, the torment of a love gone astray,
Where heart and mind lose their way,
But amidst the turmoil, a glimmer remains,
A chance for healing, breaking the chains.

For in time's embrace, wounds may heal,
As strength is found, and hearts reveal,
That though love's trust has been betrayed,
A new beginning can still be made.

So let the heart and mind find peace,
Release the burdens, let sorrows cease,
For in forgiveness lies the key,
To set the wounded spirit free.
