Heaven Poem by Alejandro Torres

Heaven

Stealing breath and heart alike
I wonder if loving you is similar
To whispering to Gods
Though I don’t know exactly what
I would have to say
Would it be similar
To trying to cradle the moon
In the palm of my hand
Or making my heart stop
Without your help
For once
I highly doubt
It would be as wonderful
As the breaths I lose
To you
But I wonder
What they would have me do
To choose between ruin
And you
I know there would be
No second thoughts
Even if the stakes were higher
Than normal
But who would not mind
The tormenting untouchable beauty
Of an earth bound angel
In womanly guise
Low and behold
The greatest joy in this world
Loving you
But would they have me sworn
To secrecy
I think I would just have to shout
From Everest’s peak
In a voice much like their’s
A voice ten thousand times
My diminutive size
How much I truly care
And I’d let the wind
Whisper to them instead
That in your heart
I have found ground
Similar to Heavens
I’d let the wind carry away my words
So they would know
Exactly how much I do
Truly love
You
