Helpless Poem by Gisela Ute Duvel

Helpless

The wind blew right through me
I didn't expect it to be so harsh
As I opened my eyes, I could barely see
Everything as it started to crumble down

The earth with all its wonderful features
Flowers, trees, mountains, and bees
All the magical mystical creatures
Sucked in to the earth, gone

I watched as the rain started pouring
Rushing down, washing all away in its path
With thunder all the way along, roaring
Wrecking every small bit of beauty

Helplessly I fled, thinking what I'm leaving behind
I considered turning around and going back
But my mind told my heart to be blind
I ran, and ran, and fell, and ran even further

Something blocked my way, I could not see
I stopped and looked up into raging black darkness
Suddenly it occurred to me I must not flee
For even the stars fades away in time
