Henry The Not Very Green Engine Poem by Mary Champion

Henry The Not Very Green Engine

H-ere it is you come to see
E-ngines in fine livery.
R-olling stock awaits the day
I-t gets selected to convey,
T-oddlers, teens and Mums and Dads
A-nd grandpas too - who feel like lads.
G-oing for a steam train ride.
E-ngine drivers feel great pride

R-eliving days of coal and smoke
A-whistle blast to warn the folk
'I -‘m on my way, so clear the line.
‘L- ectric trains aren't half as fine.
W.hat a pity I pollute
A-ny place my wheels set foot.
Y-eah! So what? Who gives a toot? '
