Her Ring Poem by Stacie Springer

Her Ring

She was the life he knew
Gray skies would all turn blue
Whenever she was near
How could it end with a silent tear?

He recalls the time they spent
He shudders to remember that he meant to tell her of the love he felt
With just one look, she could make him melt

He failed to tell her that his love was true
The only symbol of the love they knew
Was the small silver ring that she always wore
He asks himself, 'why couldn't I have done more '.

Now as he takes her ring
All the memories it will bring
And as he kisses her on the cheek
His knees become very weak

They stand all gathered around
Not a single person makes a sound
As they say their last goodbyes
They close the casket with tear stung eyes
