Here We Stand Poem by Nomvula Hadebe

Here We Stand

Here we stand

Gazing in each other's eyes
We felt love at first site
Calls, texts, emails
That was us at first
Here we stand
Took things to the next level
Thought we could settle
Yes-game changer
Yet wasn't in our favour
Here we stand
Families became one
Definitely felt like heat from the sun
Went to a honeymoon
Never knowing it would end soon
Here we stand
As enemies of an era
Love turned to anger
It is now defined by paper
Here we stand
In pain, anger, frustrations, loneliness
Weekends in and out for our kids
Forgetting all their needs
Here we stand divorce my love
