He's Not Really There Poem by Lisa Pierson Pierson

He's Not Really There

He sits drinking coffee
In his usual chair
Within an arms reach
But he's not really there

He gives me a nod
and a blank looking stare
Pretends to be listening
But he's not really there

Went to the movies
Got popcorn to share
I snuggled up close
But he's not really there

Lit scented candles
Romance fills the air
I wanted to please him
But he's not really there

We had a big fight
Told him that it's not fair
All I wanted was love
But he don't even care
