Holding Onto Forever Poem by Charlotte Ballard

Holding Onto Forever

My mother’s voice
Pours out like weakened
Wine in the middle of
Handing out vanilla
Cookies in cups that
Never match.

Little ones tip
My votive offering
To a future that
Won’t include me.
