Honeymoon Daiquiris Poem by M.L. Emmett

Honeymoon Daiquiris

Rating: 4.3

We go to the bar for daiquiris
hot summer coloured
in a sugar rimmed glass

We sip them in the balcony breeze
the tide rushes rock
in a flimsy, chiffon of spray

Palms shake shadows onto the sand
sun paints impressionist daubs
mango-orange on a navy sea

We drain the last drops of bitter sweetness
lick each other's lips
and head back to bed
