There is a hope known only
to the godless
But this hope is no less worthy -
for it recalls no covenant of old
made in unfathomable tongues
It bears no expectation as recalled
in scripture.
It demands not, it delights always
In the ever present acknowledgment of
change, of beauty, of the
subjectivity of reason, the elusiveness of heart,
the fallibility
and great possibility of the human spirit.
