Hopplite Song
So it all fell down-
in mindless waters drowned...
the frail, Corinthian dream
...fragile sugar town...
in mindless torrents...
...peerless Acropolis
Forum flooded,
stoa to float boats,
itself a sea
peopled by starfish
legated by eels.
treasury, armory
snatched, like dice.
And so it all
in mindless waters
...fell
down, the fragile sugar town...
...the frail
Corinthian dream.
