Horror Poem by Mary Champion

Horror

Afghanistan!
The tragedy unfolds.
Waves of barbarians
sweep across someone's homeland,
spreading terror and oppression,
shedding blood,
bringing harsh laws
in the name of justice.

How long before the terror
overspills their borders
and touches us?

How many lives were lost?
How much money squandered
over twenty years of wasted effort?

Every night we should thank God
that we gave up on religion.
