How Far Does An Act Of Kindness Go? Poem by Shelby Barker

How Far Does An Act Of Kindness Go?

How far does an act of kindness go?
You’re gone but they’re still here
Wrought quick but ending slow
Death of one can lead to more.

What’s happening to those you know?
Or, knew; you see it is quite queer
Illness and curse among their woe
has lost track of simple yore.

Could you hear the caw of the distant crow?
This time I thought I’d adhered
I’d cleaned up my so kind mess although
It’s their blood now on the floor.

How far does an act of kindness go?
You’re gone but they’re suffering here.
