How High Is Your Pride? Poem by Don Subba

How High Is Your Pride?

How high is your pride,
To give your heart away?
How high is your pride,
To make someone feel the same?
How high is your pride,
To keep chasing what may never be?
How high is your pride,
Just to claim a victory?

Would you risk everything,
No matter what it takes?
Would you bury all your pride,
And smile through your mistakes?
Would you give what's most precious,
Until there's nothing left?
Would you cross every line,
And lose everyone you've met?

How high is your pride?
How high is your pride?
My dear, tell me why.

Will you regret it someday?
Will you regret it someday?
When the love has slipped away?

Will you regret the choices
When the one you loved is gone?
Will you regret the moments
You believed would last so long?
Will you regret the battles
That never changed a thing?
Will you regret your victory
When it tastes so bittersweet?

You climbed so high,
You reached the sky.
But was it worth
The tears you cried?
A crown may shine,
Then lose its glow.
A heart once broken
Heals far too slow.

How high is your pride?
How high is your pride?
My dear, tell me why.

Will you regret it someday?
Will you regret it someday?
When the love has slipped away?

When all is said,
When all is done,
Will pride remain...
Or will love be the one?
