Hummingbird Poem by Catherine Inscore

Hummingbird

Captured in an element of surprise
dancing wildly among the daffodils
humming flirtatiously
constant imagery
savoring the nectars of the gods

Wings fly
swiftly beating like
that of a passionate lover
in a feverish embrace!

You’re too quick
my tiny bird
wishing to hold tenderly
delicately—
in the palm of my hand
and just watch…
