I Am Not Here To Judge You Poem by Mustafa Marconi

I Am Not Here To Judge You

I will not disrespect you
Nor will I run away
Will never seek to appease you
Or mistreat you in any way
I won’t pretend to champion your cause
Or a lifestyle I can not conceive
I am not here to judge you
Nor forfeit my right to disagree
I will not walk on eggshells
So that you can feel at ease
Nor will I try to inflame a situation
Or trample on your humanity
It is not my journey
It is the path you have chosen
My personal sentiments concerning this issue
Does not indicate that my mind isn’t open
I will not be like the politicians
Who manipulate both sides of the fences
Or the religious leaders who condemn you
As an abomination in the temples, mosques, and churches
I will not join you in your demonstrations for equality
Nor will I campaign against you in any way
Will never attempt to even modestly appease you
Or undermine your right to exist, in any way
I won’t pretend not to be insulted
When you align your cause with mine
This is the route you’ve consciously selected
While our nightmares are systematically designed
I will not walk on eggshells
For fear that I’ll be associated with bigotry
Nor will I allow your behavior to infringe on my beliefs
Or trample on my humanity
It is not my journey
It is the path you have chosen
I maintain my prerogative to disagree
And stand clear of the doors you’ve opened
I won’t pretend to champion your cause
Or a lifestyle I will never conceive
I am not hear to judge you
Or trample on your humanity
