I Am Not Perfect But I Am Unique Poem by Neethu Nandakumar

I Am Not Perfect But I Am Unique

She woke up from sleep gasping for each breath it's not because she couldn't breathe
She was choking on her guilt for not being able to be the perfect for her family
Everyone looks and point fingers at her, like she caused the world pandemic.

She looks at the mirror and stares for a minute before she smash the mirror to the floor saying " even your reflection is ugly "

She enters the bath, turn the water to the coldest because her body was burning, as if she was covered in shame of flames.

She slowly started to drown in that cold water which was soothing the pain of shame.
Not being able to breathe under the water didn't bother her because she was used to waking up everyday walking around not being able to be herself, "it's like a suffocation".

She closed her eyes under the water and said " I am not perfect but I am unique "
