When my sins have caught up with me
And I can no longer run quite free
I doubt that in heaven I will stay
When I have all of hell to see.
I wonder if I’ll be able to stand my chains,
And go through again all my Earthly pains
Without gasping and turning away,
In an attempt to reject these stains.
But for my pride I’ll have to lie
So that when judgment day comes passing by
I’ll stand proud, stiff and straight
And honor those that cry.
I will not allow in the light nor gloom
Even as the serpent speaks and makes room,
Saying, “Welcome love, I’ve brought you to my gate, ”
I’ll say, “No, Devil. I chose my own doom.”
