I Hate 'I Love You'

I love you.
Those words are so lifeless and empty.
I love you.
A potentially deadly weapon
Wrapped in ribbons
And shiny paper
Until it explodes
And leaves shrapnel in you
So deep
That you will always feel it
In you.
A solemn reminder
To never fall in love
And say those awful words.
