I Hate Your Hellos Poem by Elea Houri

I Hate Your Hellos

I hate your hellos.
I hate that I obey,
no matter how many times
I scream in my pillow at night
and cover my ears at dawn.

I hate your hellos,
I hate that I must love you unconditionally,
even though your presence is made of hatred in my dreams,
You ruin my day and always make sure it stays that way.

Oh, how do i hate your hellos,
Five letters, one word, that is all you ask of me.
But every time i hurl those words onto the ground,
It brings out the beastly creature in me,
That takes over my lungs and kills me slowly.
