I Here Be Poem by Jonathan Bellmann

I Here Be

Adrift at sea I here be
Awaiting the dawn to welcome me.
Darkness looms within the waves
Of silent thought and salty spray.
Upon the breath of death I ride
Eager for my soul to hide.
I touch the darkness though I feel you not;
Your whispers beckon and console
My wounded soul
To feed my thirst
To partake
To quench the hunger for my sake.
Upon this raft of Christ I cling
To anchor me,
To hold me fast,
To lift my soul beyond my task.
I cast my gaze beyond the waves
Which glimmer in a moon-lit haze.
I splash my face with sin’s delight
Weighing its worthless
Fluid might.
